loganandliz.com: the mishaps of the mr. and mrs.

Whew! What a weekend! On Friday, I met Logan after work so we could run some errands. First, we headed to Macy’s so we could match up paint colors to some stuff on our Wedding Registry. You gotta love a Macy’s that has 8 floors. Now that’s sexy! Then we headed to Old Navy to pick up a couple of things. From there, it was off to Bed Bath and Beyond for more paint color matching. We caught the train home, and then walked over to Greektown for a quick bite to eat at Mr. Greek. As far as fine dining goes, it’s definitely not going to make the list, as the ambience is less than stellar…but the cheap food makes it all worthwhile.

Saturday morning, we got up bright and early and headed over to Home Depot. Too much money later, we walked out, armed and ready to paint. We settled on Ralph Lauren’s Brown Lush for the living room, Behr’s Japanese Fern for the kitchen island, and a dark granite color for the bedroom. I painted till my arms couldn’t take it anymore, and I even enlisted Log’s help for a little bit. He said he felt like Martha Stewart’s “bitch”. I guess I can get a little out of control! I was literally covered in paint from head to toe when we left for the night after finishing the living room and kitchen. From there, we headed home. I popped some advil for my old aching arms, and hopped in the shower to get ready for our Saturday night date.

Ah…Saturday night dates - always the adventure. We hopped in the car (ugh…we actually had to drive somewhere) and headed out to the burbs to go Ikea. Talk about a man who knows the way to my heart - home furnishings! Oh, Ikea. How I love you. Let me just say OMG. I have never seen anything sexier in my entire life, besides maybe the Justin Timberlake concert. After two hours, one hissy fit (Log’s, not mine surprisingly), and an argument with the oh so happy Ikea worker “Brian”, we left with a new area rug, a loveseat (to be delivered this week), 2 pillows, a peacock blue throw, draw liners, a hook for Tito’s dog leash, and 50 puppy poopie bags. For $500. Including delivery. Try to contain your enthusiasm. I heart Ikea AND their low prices. It was 10 o’clock by now, and we were getting seriously LBS, so we headed to Weber Grill for dinner, and then called it a night.

Sunday morning, we met up with Clint and Jacqui, and their super adorable friends, Paul and Dan, for brunch at Orange. One crazy thrift store and an hour and a half later, we were FINALLY seated. 6 people, and 2 tables. Not cool. Especially when there is a giant table for 6 that we totally could’ve moved to. Whatever, Orange. I don’t care how delicious your Fruity Pebble Pancakes are, I’m kinda over you today. Unfortunately, we had to go home and pack, and couldn’t hang out with our buds after brunch. Talk about a bummer.

We headed home, and when we walked in, Sweet Mother, it was hotter than blazes in here. We ‘weated it out for about an hour, and decided we couldn’t take another minute more. Scrapping our original apartment packing plan, Logan decided we should pack a picnic dinner instead, and head to the beach for some relaxation time. The MOST brilliant idea to date. We had such an awesome time just laying by the lake and hanging out. We saw all kinds of crazy things…people making out in the sand, a pack of boys toss their fully clothed buddy into the (what looked to be) freezing lake water, and a man riding a bike with a stereo attached blasting musak. For real, not for fake. We also saw a Teets McGee look alike, and that made us miss our baby even more.

We left the lake, cleaned up the apartment, went grocery shopping, had prescriptions filled and FINALLY turned in at about 1:00. And now, I need a nap.

One Response to “Weekend Wrap-Up”

Liz,
OH my gosh that definetely calls for a nap, actually reading all of the super exciting things you did this weekend made me tired. I am sure me being ready for a nap does not surprise you.. haha! I actually think your family may be doing some painting this weekend too, after I am trained in “Jim’s Academy for Painting” I am allowed to paint too!!! Or so your mom told me! Have a wonderful night. Oh and you all had me going on the new dog thing, I felt like a real dumby afterwards!!
Love,
Yammy
